Religious biases matter. Most are complex. Mine are as follows.
Raised Episcopalian; 3 yrs w/ evangelicals in college; 12 years house churching.
Unaffiliated since 2008. Embarrassed about lots of it. Wish I could go back.
Pro: Jesus, justice, mercy, hope, learning, effort, confession, failure, persistence.
Anti: institutions, authoritarians, bullies, boilerplate, power, pretension, control.
I do not defend my faith. I do not proselytize unbelievers. Offensive > defensive.
I'm an non-ecumenical inclusive pluralist, a supportive non-joiner, a Jesus fan.
Christ in a group is the earth's hope of glory. God damn the clergy-laity system.
There's more below, if you're intrigued...
Finally, if you're part of a group that is trying to meet with the Lord in simplicity, here is a two-page handout that might be worth reading together. It might also be okay to pass around in your area. Good luck, God bless, and let me know if it helps.
